Osiris Valdez Banda is an Assistant Professor at Aalto University (Marine and Arctic Technology) and the leading professor of the Research Group on Safe and Efficient Marine and Ship Systems. His research focuses on maritime risk analysis and safety systems engineering, with applications in smart shipping and winter navigation. His work focuses on the development of methods, processes, and tools to model and analyze the safety, risk, and resilience of ship and marine systems. These efforts support the design of autonomous technologies, smart shipping services such as remote pilotage, and the management of maritime traffic operations, particularly in the navigation of sea ice-covered areas.
