Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit Clear Seas’ website (clearseas.org).

Collection of Personal Data

When you visit the website, certain information about your device is automatically collected, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the installed cookies. As you browse the website, information about the individual web pages and products that you view, the websites and search terms that referred you to Clear Seas’ website, and information about how you interact with the website is also collected. This automatically-collected information is referred to as “Device Information.”

Device Information is collected using the following technologies:

  • Cookies: data files that are placed in your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. More information about cookies and how they can be disabled can be found here.
  • Log files: track actions occurring on the website, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.
  • Web beaconstags, and pixels: electronic files used to record information about how you browse the website.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

The content featured on Clear Seas’ website may include embedded content from other websites (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website.

These other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Use of Personal Information

Clear Seas uses the Device Information collected to improve its website and also to screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address). Clear Seas uses Device Information to generate summary analytics about users’ browsing behaviours and interactions with the website, and to assess the relevance of its advertising efforts.

Clear Seas shares Device Information with third parties to improve its understanding of the latter. For example, Clear Seas uses Google Analytics to better understand how users interact with the website. More information about how Google uses your Device Information can be found here. You can also opt-out of Google Analytics here.

Clear Seas may also share Device Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information it receives, or to otherwise protect its organizational rights.

As described above, Clear Seas uses Device Information to provide website users with targeted content, including ads and marketing communications, that might be of interest to them.
