Join Clear Seas for a webinar on its new report, Anchorage Use in the Canadian Waters of the Salish Sea. The webinar will present findings from Clear Seas’ analysis of commercial anchorage use between 2016 and 2025.

The presentation will examine how anchorage use has changed over time, which anchorage groups, vessel types, and commodities are driving demand, and how anchorage patterns reflect broader shocks and pressures in the regional transportation system.

Key topics will include:

  • Why anchorage use increased even as vessel traffic declined between 2016 and 2023
  • Where anchorage pressure is concentrated, including the growing and highly seasonal role of the Gulf Islands
  • Why bulk carriers, especially those carrying grain and coal, account for most time spent at anchor
  • How tanker anchorage use has changed following the completion of the Trans Mountain Expansion project
  • What anchorage trends reveal about supply chain performance, system resilience, and future vessel traffic planning

The session will include a presentation of the report’s main findings, followed by time for questions and discussion.
