Pour la vie marine, le son joue souvent un r\u00f4le crucial dans la communication, la recherche de nourriture, la reproduction et la navigation. Cependant, l\u2019augmentation de l\u2019activit\u00e9 humaine dans les oc\u00e9ans s\u2019accompagne d\u2019une augmentation du bruit sous-marin. Diverses industries contribuent au bruit dans les oc\u00e9ans : la production \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique en mer, les travaux de construction, les op\u00e9rations militaires et, bien s\u00fbr, le trafic maritime. Le bruit g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 par les navires est appel\u00e9 bruit rayonn\u00e9 sous-marin. L\u2019activit\u00e9 croissante du transport maritime commercial, des projets d\u2019exploitation en mer, de la p\u00eache et des bateaux de plaisance contribue \u00e0 une augmentation du bruit rayonn\u00e9 sous-marin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cette augmentation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca\/oceans\/noise-bruit\/about-a-propos\/index-fra.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a de graves cons\u00e9quences pour la vie marine<\/a>, en particulier pour les esp\u00e8ces dont la survie d\u00e9pend des sons, comme les mammif\u00e8res marins. Le bruit rayonn\u00e9 sous-marin peut masquer les sons naturels, ce qui entrave la communication entre les individus, la recherche d\u2019un partenaire ou d\u2019une proie, ou m\u00eame l\u2019\u00e9vitement des pr\u00e9dateurs. Certains peuvent modifier leur comportement, par exemple en communiquant moins ou en \u00e9vitant ou en abandonnant des habitats importants. Au Canada, le gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral \u00e9labore une <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca\/oceans\/noise-bruit\/index-fra.html\">strat\u00e9gie sur le bruit sous-marin<\/a> afin d\u2019am\u00e9liorer la science, la collecte de connaissances, l\u2019innovation et l\u2019\u00e9valuation, et d\u2019\u00e9clairer la gestion du bruit rayonn\u00e9 sous-marin, tout en sensibilisant la population \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-darkgrey-color has-lightteal-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-93e25519db50fa41f2d1b3773936e919\">L&#8217;Initiative pour des navires silencieux est financ\u00e9e par le gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral par l&#8217;interm\u00e9diaire de Transports Canada.
