Quebec shipyard pitches Liberals on oil-spill vessel after Trudeau announces $1.5B to protect coastlines

A Quebec shipyard is offering the federal government a new vessel that is almost ready to be launched, hoping to capitalize on the Liberals’ plan to boost Canada’s ability to respond to maritime oil spills.

Lévis, Que.-based Davie Shipbuilding has pitched Ottawa before on similar proposals, but is hoping Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s recent commitment to provide a rapid response to oil spills in Canadian waters might mean renewed interest.
